Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga is a science, an integral system that brings together the different branches of Yoga into a single system. It is focused on the spiritual side of the practitioner, being more contemplative and individual.

It combines breathing techniques with movements, physical postures, relaxation and meditation that work to raise kundalini energy through the spinal canal. The rise of this vital energy crosses and activates the energy centers (chakras) and allows you to experience a physical, mental and emotional balance.

It is a powerful practice with almost immediate effects and that can be practiced by anyone according to their will and aptitude.

Kundalini Yoga classes are never the same, despite having a pre-defined structure and set of sequences. Includes: Opening and Protecting, Stretching and Breathing Exercises, Kyras, Meditation, Closing and Mantras.

They are available in face-to-face format, online and also at a private/personalized level.

Who can benefit from these classes?

The Kundalini Yoga classes proposed by Kátia Prior were developed for everyone, whether they are beginners or regular yoga practitioners. There are no prerequisites. That is, everyone who wants to improve their body and mind health, concentration, clarity and mental focus can benefit from classes.

History / Curiosity

Kundalini Yoga is an ancient discipline with roots in the Indian subcontinent. It was traditionally taught by a master to his disciple, in restricted and very closed circles.

Due to its powerful effects, only the elect had access to these yogic teachings. Breaking the age-old tradition of secrecy surrounding Kundalini Yoga, Yogi Bhajan was the first to publicly teach this science when he arrived in the West in 1968.

With the approach of the Age of Aquarius and the opening of the hippie movement towards spirituality, and as an efficient alternative to the predominant drug culture, Yogui Bhajan decided to teach Kundalini Yoga to those who wanted to learn it, maintaining his maxim that he came “to train teachers and not to gather students”.
